Full-Time Nanny Position -- Royal Oak, MI
Start Date: Mid-June 2025
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30 AM--6:00 PM, Wednesday 7:00 AM--6:00 PM (40 guaranteed hours per week)
Compensation: $22+/hour (on the books), guaranteed hours, overtime eligible, paid vacation and some holidays, sick days

About the Family
Dedicated single mother seeking a dependable, nurturing, and patient nanny to care for her 6-year-old son, a bright and creative child with high-functioning autism and ADHD. Mom is an emergency room physician beginning a demanding 12-month fellowship in hospice and palliative care. Reliability and patience is most important.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive care for child, supporting emotional regulation and encouraging independence
  • School drop-off/pick-up (school 2 blocks away, using nanny's car -- car seat provided)
  • Plan engaging, flexible activities suited to Lucas' interests and sensitivities (no rigid schedules)
  • Support social, behavioral, and developmental goals in alignment with his therapists and school
  • Prepare nutritious meals for Lucas and assist with simple family dinner prep (chicken, veggies, etc.)
  • Tidy play areas, assist with Lucas' laundry, organize clothes and belongings, keep his room/bathroom clean
  • Light housekeeping duties (dishes, trash, pet care, errands like grocery pickup or post office runs)
  • Letting out and feeding the family dog (11-year-old blind, diabetic dog -- no medical responsibilities required)

Ideal Candidate Qualities
  • Exceptionally patient, flexible, and emotionally resilient
  • Firm yet nurturing, able to support emotional outbursts calmly
  • Experienced with children who have autism and ADHD (preferred but not required)
  • Reliable and independent -- no backup care available
  • Strong communicator who provides daily updates and maintains transparency
  • Must be comfortable with home surveillance cameras in common areas (recording audio/video)
  • Able to work independently while maintaining trust and respect for household rules

Qualifications
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Flu, MMR, and TDaP vaccinations required (COVID vaccine may be required in the future)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (with room for large 5-point harness seat)
  • Non-smoker
  • Strong references and a clean background check
  • Comfortable with dogs and occasional emergency pet care
  • Female caregiver preferred
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • $22+/hour (gross), paid biweekly via SurePay
  • 40 guaranteed hours/week, overtime for hours over 40
2 weeks paid vacation (including winter break), 3 paid sick days, paid major holidays
Potential for continuing education stipend
